Is there a why to this and a way to fix it? Or is it just another weird temporary LJ bug?

I think my all time favorite thing about Google is that it fills stuff in for you. If you forget a term or don’t know quite how to spell it, it will give suggestions. I use that ALL the time. I am so grateful for it.
