My comments:
Wow…!
A) There are a lot of good movies out there that I meant to see and did not.
B) There is not a single year when I saw all five movies. (Though, I’d really like to see The Shawshank Redemption and the Postman. If I saw one of those, I’d have seen all five that year.)
C) I have not see a single nominee since 2004…and there’s hardly a movie in that list of 20 (from 2004 to 2008) that I want to see, (though there are a few.)
D) I bet if the list went back farther, there would be years where I had seen all five. (Used to be an old movie buff.)
How about you?
Jagi, you will LOVE “Shawshank Redemption”, it was a really good movie.:D I’ll do the meme later on…^_^
Seconded. I think for the test of time, it holds up more than Forrest Gump. Arguably, as far as influencing future films, Pulp Fiction gets the nod.
Thirded. If you asked me my five or ten favorite movies, at any given moment in time, I would only be able to list two: The Princess Bride and Shawshank Redemption.
My favorite movie is Cold Comfort Farm, probably followed by Pride and Prejudice, the 2005 version, and The Last Unicorn. (After that come dozens, as I love movies.)
That’s much longer than my meme. I will have to think about this and remember everything I’ve seen and not seen.
Oh, and since work for reasons I cannot imagine blocks me from commenting in your husband’s journal, please tell him that I am insanely jealous about him having an uncorrected advance proof of Songs of the Dying Earth!
I will. He’s so delighted with it.
If we eventually get a corrected final version, would you like me to send you the uncorrected one? (Assuming he agrees, but I don’t think he would object.)Or would it be too late by then?
I admit that I am tempted and I appreciate the offer. Still. I preordered the book about 48 hours after Subterranean Press announced they were going to publish it, so I will get a copy as soon as it prints. I think I can wait ;)
Very good. (We are, of course, delighted for the sale. ;-)
Wow! I didn’t see a single one of them this year, although if Wall-E had been nominated….
Which movie won the animation award?
I believe it was Wall-E that won.:)

Does it count if you read the book the movie was based on :-)
I supposed it is symetrical…if it counts to see the movie for the book list, you can count reading the book for the movie list. ;-)

I found Juno to be really, really good. I do, however, know of one or two people who found it profoundly annoying. I’d recommend giving it a watch.
Ditto.
